JAX Workshop on Advanced Surgical Techniques in the Laboratory Mouse

This four-day intensive hands-on workshop is for those wishing to obtain advanced training in surgical techniques for the laboratory mouse. In addition to biomethods and rodent survival surgery guidelines, a wide range of surgical procedures are taught including: Xenografts (intrasplenic, kidney, prostate, liver, mammary and intra femoral) Mammary Fat Pad Clearing Telemetry: Blood Pressure Implantation (Carotid Artery Catheterization) Telemetry: ECG Implantation Telemetry: EMG Implantation Brain Cannulation Including ICVC Partial Hepatectomy 5/6 Nephrectomy Additional procedures may be covered upon request and as time and ACUC approval permits. Participants should have basic surgery knowledge and the ability to work under a dissecting microscope. This workshop can be used for continuing education units for AALAS re-certification.
