About the Adobe Mountain Wildlife Center

The mission of The Wildlife Center at Adobe Mountain is to act in cooperation with The Arizona Game and Fish Department to provide rehabilitative care for ill or injured wildlife, and to be an outstanding resource for education concerning Arizona's  unique assortment of wild animals.  The Wildlife Center will accomplish this mission by providing the finest possible care to the animals residing at the center and by promoting positive relations and continuing education to volunteers, rehabilitators, and the public.

Education Program

The Wildlife Center’s educational program is a powerful and effective way to help students reconnect to the living world. By bringing live animals into your school, we create a comprehensive and compelling educational experience unmatched by books, television, or any other medium. Our staff of volunteers offers a sense of caring, warmth and enthusiasm to which students respond openly.

Our education program is geared towards students of the fourth grade and higher; we try to tie into the State Education Program Curriculum. The presentation focuses on Arizona’s wildlife and their habitats. The program is designed to encourage the students to establish a personal commitment to conserving Arizona’s wildlife.

It is most effective to group your students by grade levels. A typical presentation will last approximately, 30 to 60 minutes. We prefer to present our program only once each school year to any one school. This way, we maximize the number of students and school groups we can see in a year. All of our presenters are volunteers; they are utilizing their personal time in giving each and every presentation. So we respect them by making sure each program is complete in the planning stages.

When calling to schedule a presentation, please have at least 3 dates available. Due to the number of requests we receive, we need at least one-month advance notice of the dates, times and number of students that will be attending.

We will need the complete name and address of the school with driving directions.  The location to load and unload animals, which needs to be as close to where we will be presenting as possible. Good presentation locations include: classroom, library, cafeteria, auditorium, gymnasium or outside but only when weather and animals permit. More specific details can be made at the time the presenter contacts you to set up the final plans.

Please call us at 623-582-9806 and we will help you find the best date for your school program.

There are several ways to donate... Arizona's wildlife needs your help! The Wildlife Center at Adobe Mountain in north Phoenix is a very busy wildlife rehabilitation center, with more than 1,000 animals passing through its doors annually. By providing temporary and long-term medical and rehabilitation services, the Center provides orphaned and injured wildlife a second chance for survival.

The Wildlife Center Auxiliary assists the Center in a number of ways, including many volunteer hours spent in daily care and maintenance of the facility (and its "residents") and in fundraising. The Center operates on a limited budget, deriving all operational resources from the Heritage Fund's "Lottery Dollars Working for Wildlife" and private donations. The efforts of the Auxiliary allow the Center an opportunity to extend our mission of educating the public about Arizona's wildlife and to improve the facility to benefit the orphaned and injured wildlife temporarily in our care.

Monetarily: Your tax-deductible donations are greatly appreciated by the wildlife of Arizona - and, of course, by the humans who seek their best interests.  We accept donations with check or money order.  To donate using a check or money order, please make payable to: AMWCA, Adobe Mountain Wildlife Center Auxiliary - 18635 N. 35th Ave. Suite 110, PMB 366, Phoenix, Arizona 85027-6183  (623)582-9806
